Waggleview® with Nicolette Peloquin, Miss RI and New England Patriots Cheerleader
A waggleview® reveals the incredible bond between the human and animal connection. These special interviews remind us to mindfully live in the moment, as our pets do every single day. Read our featured waggleview® with Nicolette Peloquin, Miss RI and New England Patriots cheerleader, to find out what lesson in life her dog has taught her.
The Dog Owner: Nicolette Peloquin: I am currently Miss Rhode Island and a New England Patriots Cheerleader. When I am not volunteering or attending promotional events around New England, I can almost always be found doing school work as I am a full time graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Boston. I am working towards a master’s degree in school counseling. As part of my program, I intern one day a week in a middle school and was recently hired as Instructional Support Staff. When I have some free time, I can always be found with my kitties and my pup, Julian.
Dog type and Name: Julian: German Shepard
Q: Why did you choose this dog? My mom grew up with a German Shepard whom she loved. The dog was a protector but also a family animal. When our Australian Shepard passed away, we got Julian, our German Shepard, shortly after!
Q: Do you talk to your dog? If so, what do you talk about? All of the time! I have a special “juju” voice. He goes to puppy school so his favorite question is, “Do you want to go to school?” He does that German Shepard head cock, then runs and grabs his own leash.
Q: If he could talk to you, what would he say? He is such a love bug so I bet he would tell us how much he loves us then give us a big wet kiss!
Q: If your dog had a job or career, what would he be doing? He is too mellow for the puppy police academy (although he looks the part). Maybe he would be a better lawyer, he looks the part with glasses on!
Q: What lesson in life has your dog taught you? Julian loves EVERYONE. When my family takes him out, he will kiss just about anyone. Dogs cannot judge, they love everyone they meet. I try to have a similar mindset in life. If we live judgment free, there would be so much more acceptance manifested between strangers.
Q: How does your dog inspire you? When the warm weather rolls around and he is crying at the door to go outside, I find it in me to throw my sneakers on and take him for a run. Now that’s some serious inspiration!
Q: Where is your dog’s favorite place to go with you? Bark Beach, in Ocean City Maryland.
Q: Who or what does your dog find the most interesting? He LOVES his yellow lab friend, Rudy. They are so interested in one another when they go on vacation together to Bark Beach.
Q: What is the most annoying thing other dog owners do? My “pet” peeve is when dog owners leave their dog loose in the bed of a truck and drive around with them back there. Major safety concern!!
Q: What does being a responsible dog owner mean to you? Being a responsible dog owner means he is well loved. A well loved dog needs snuggles, food, walks, and socialization opportunities with other animals and people.
Q: Do you ever dress up your dog? If so, as what? Julian is often times dressed up as a New England Patriots player. If it is a holiday, he might be a bunny or an elf!
Q: How has your dog changed your life? At the end of a long work day, there is nothing better than walking into my house and seeing his sweet face.
Q: Does your dog have a philosophy of life? “I’ll just tilt my head and play dumb when they ask me to come in. Then I can stay out and play with my tennis ball!”
Q: I love my dog because he is more like a human than a dog.
WAGGLEVIEW®: These interviews are focused on leaders in business, the community, or at home. My hope in doing this is to present remarkable and respected people in their community with their beloved pets. Who can resist reading about pets and what these people do? This is a platform for people to display their talents; their own business, a new book, a deeply loved passion for a charity or their own job. It also shows their love for their pet!
Thank you Nicolette for taking the time to participate in the Waggleview®. We wish you the best of luck as you pass on the crown, continue your studies, and cheer on the New England Patriots!
