Waggleview® with Lois Goglia, artist
A waggleview® reveals the incredible bond between the human and animal connection. These special interviews remind us to mindfully live in the moment, as our pets do every single day. Read our featured waggleview® with Lois Goglia, artist and creator of Wag Rag Scarves to find out how her dog has changed her life.
Dog owner name and occupation: Lois Goglia is an artist, who exhibits in galleries and museums. Her artwork is about the relationship of medical images (X-rays) to Art and Science. This is a subject she has been investigating for over twenty- five years.
Inspired by X-ray images she saw on a light box at her veterinarian husband’s animal hospital, Lois has incorporated animal and human X-rays, and traditional art making supplies to create multiple series. A complete explanation of her artwork can be found at www.loisgoglia.net .
Four years ago, Lois created a scarf collection: Nesola Scarves, “Designed for powerful women.” There are about twenty scarf patterns in the Nesola Collection. Find out more about these luxurious 100% silk scarves at www.nesola-scarves.com.
On the same website you can learn about Lois’ newest endeavor: Wag Rag Scarves for “Dogs and those who love them.” Three Wag Rag Scarves (large, medium, small) are packed in each red carrying case. These scarves clearly display the mutual bond between dog lovers and their dogs, when both wear their identical scarves at the same time.
Dog type and Name: Tawny is an Australian Labra-doodle
Why did you choose this dog?
Ed and I were looking for a dog the same size as our other dog, Truffles, a Lagotto.
When we looked on the internet, we came upon a picture of a litter of Australian Labra-doodles for sale. When we visited these adorable puppies, we fell in love.
Do you talk to your dog? What do you say?
I believe that when I talk to Tawny, using repeated phrases, such as “where is your toy?” or “Do you want to go outside?’ he begins to understand that my words have specific meanings.
If he could talk to you, what would he say?
“Thanks for the great life you give me. Where are my cookies?”
If your dog had a career, what would he be doing?
He would be an interior decorator. He drags rugs, toys, and bones all over the house. His favorite spot to decorate is the throw rug in my dining room. Tawny teaches me to have fun. His perpetual antics keep me laughing all the time.
How does your dog inspire you?
Tawny is the inspiration and a “spokes dog” for Wag Rag scarves. He is on Facebook and Instagram.
Where is your dog’s favorite place to go?
He likes to go to the dog park.
What does your dog find most interesting?
In this order: rugs. cookies, food, squirrels.
What is the most annoying thing other dog owners do?
Some dog owners talk about their dogs endlessly.
What does being a responsible dog owner mean to you?
To feed Tawny a proper diet.
To exercise Tawny regularly.
To try to keep the house puppy proof.
To have Tawny groomed regularly.
To make sure Tawny’s vaccinations are up to date.
To socialize Tawny, so he is comfortable with other people and animals,
To bring him to training class.
Do you ever dress up your dog? As what?
Tawny wears Wag Rag Scarves. I do too.
We love their bright colors.
How has this dog changed your life?
Throughout my married life I have had many dogs. What makes Tawny exceptional is his sense of humor. He loves to tease me by playing I’ve got your sock or I’ve got the newspaper. He performs hilarious tricks to get my attention.
Does your dog have philosophy of life?
“Life is a ball. Enjoy every minute. Besides Lois and Ed, my owners, treats are the best things in life!”
Why do you love your dog?
His upbeat, funny personality and the nutty things he does keep me laughing all the time. When he does something he knows is naughty, he wags his tail, looks at me with his big brown eyes, and gives me his,“I know I am being naughty.“
WAGGLEVIEW®: These interviews are focused on leaders in business, the community, or at home. My hope in doing this is to present remarkable and respected people in their community with their beloved pets. Who can resist reading about pets and what these people do? This is a platform for people to display their talents; their own business, a new book, a deeply loved passion for a charity or their own job. It also shows their love for their pet!
Thank you Lois for taking the time to participate in the Waggleview®.
