Dog Owner: Brianna Zegzdryn is Owner and Instructor at BE here Now Yoga and Fitness Studios in Cheshire, CT. Previously a school teacher instructing kindergarten and first grade, Brianna found Yoga after her son was born as she struggled with Post Partum Depression. She found the practice of Yoga not only gave her time for self care and reflection but also healed her from the inside out. It was incredibly empowering to realize that everything she was searching for was right there inside of her! She decided to merge her love of yoga, her experience teaching and decided to complete her yoga teacher training. Brianna now has a 6 year old son and a 2 year old puppy. Life wasn’t hectic enough, and never one to sit still, she decided to take the leap and open her studio. It has been a dream come true building from the ground up a community of like minded people and facilitating healing through guiding their practice. When not teaching or at the studio she enjoys spending time with her family full of BIG personalities:)
Dog Name and Type: Bodhi-Black English Labrador
Why did you choose this dog?
We had a beloved English Labrador years ago and remember fondly his stoic loving heart. We wanted so much for our son to experience this same unconditional love.
Do you talk to your dog? If so, what do you talk about?
Oh yes all the time:) Many times it’s just me and Bodhi. I talk to him about everything, but the most frequent conversation is about getting his nose out of the dishwasher. lol.
If he could talk to you, what would he say?
Bodhi is the most affectionate dog I have ever encountered. I imagine it would be a lot of -I love yous and Can we go back outside now? How about now? Now?
If your dog had a job or a career, what would he be doing?
Well with my job title I had hoped he would be a studio dog, but he hasn’t exactly found his zen yet. He is very active and wants to meet everybody and love them up. I imagine he would be a wonderful companion and caregiver of some sort. He is always checking on all of us.
What lesson in life has your dog taught you?
So Bodhi means enlightenment…He has brought so much of this to our lives. Mostly he has taught me that no matter what this moment brings to find the happiness in the here and now. Bodhi is just as happy playing actively as he is curled up at our feet. He just loves BEING and reminds me always to BE here Now.
How does your dog inspire you?
His loving nature inspires me to always see the good. He’s never met a person or creature he doesn’t love. There is something good in everyone.
Where is your dog’s favorite place to go with you?
Anywhere and EVERYWHERE!
Who or what does your dog find the most interesting?
Bodhi looooooves little ones…He is so interested in their every move and giggle:)
What is the most annoying thing other dog owners do?
I think not treating them with the respect that they deserve, which includes teaching them and training them properly to acclimate to your life and routines. They want to be a part of everything, it’s our job to help them be their very best.
What does being a responsible dog owner mean to you?
Just like parenting, putting their needs first. We would do anything for our pets and treat them just like we would any other member of our family.
Do you ever dress up your dog? If so, as what?
Hahaha, no, he tolerates a LOT but not being dressed up. I think our son Benjamin may have gotten a pirate get up on him for a short 3 seconds!
How has your dog changed your life?
He has made it richer, messier(which I need to learn to embrace), fun and full, full, full of love.
Does your dog have a philosophy of life?
I love my dog because…He is a character, a lover, a true friend and protector. He is an essential part of our family and I couldn’t imagine life without him.
WAGGLEVIEW®: These interviews are focused on leaders in business, the community, or at home. My hope in doing this is to present remarkable and respected people in their community with their beloved pets. Who can resist reading about pets and what these people do? This is a platform for people to display their talents; their own business, a new book, a deeply loved passion for a charity or their own job. It also shows their love for their pet!
Thank you Brianna for taking the time to participate in the Waggleview®.
